Troubleshooting Access Issues with Ownership Blocks

If users are experiencing unexpected access behavior in collaborative documents, consider the following scenarios:

Users can't edit a section

  • Confirm whether the section is governed by an Ownership Block the user is not assigned to.
  • Check if the user's project role grants editing permissions at all.

Users have access to too much content

  • Review whether they are assigned to an Ownership Block that includes more sections than intended.
  • Make sure their general project role is not overly permissive.

Notifications are not reaching the right people

  • Ownership Blocks control who receives notifications for comments, task assignments, and other actions within their scope.
  • Ensure each block is assigned to the correct user or role to target notifications appropriately.
